Lumenocity

Africa's first large-scale light art festival: four nights that turned the Company's Garden into a living canvas of light, drawing over 17 000 visitors.

01THE STORY

The city as a canvas of light

Lumenocity, billed as Africa's first large-scale light art festival, made its inaugural debut in Cape Town's historic Company's Garden from 9 to 12 April 2026, drawing more than 17 000 visitors over four evenings and selling out on both Saturday and Sunday.

The festival featured over 20 immersive light installations and interactive artworks by South African artists and digital creatives, including striking projections that brought the Iziko South African Museum to life after dark. Local artists collaborated to turn the inner city's oldest garden into a vibrant, after-dark canvas of art, technology and storytelling.

Delivered with the City of Cape Town, co-sponsored by MINI South Africa, with Kfm 94.5 as official media partner.
