Jazz in the City

For one night only, a six-block stretch of Bree Street becomes the Bree Street Jazz Hop: a walkable circuit of ten venues and pop-up performance spaces.

01THE STORY

A jazz festival reimagined as a street circuit

As Cape Town rolls into Jazz Week in March 2026, a new rhythm takes over the inner city. Jazz In The City 2026 reimagines what a jazz festival can be, deconstructing the traditional format and turning a six-block stretch of Bree Street into a one-night, walkable jazz circuit.

Positioned as the fringe, street-level alternative alongside the major international jazz festivals taking place in and around Cape Town, it invites audiences to rediscover jazz in the places where cities truly breathe: galleries, bars, fashion stores, social clubs, wine bars, hidden rooms and open public spaces.

For one night only, Thursday 26 March, Bree Street between Castle and Wale becomes the Bree Street Jazz Hop. Ten venues and pop-up performance spaces form a dynamic circuit of ticketed and free shows, encouraging audiences to move, explore, and curate their own experience.

Brought to you by Heineken, powered by FNB Speed Point, and supported by the City of Cape Town.
