Walking Routes & Wayfinding

Clearer, more human navigation helping locals and visitors discover the inner city on foot.

01WHAT WE'RE DOING

A long-running programme reshaping the streets, squares, and public spaces of Cape Town's inner city.

About Walking Routes & Wayfinding

Walking Routes & Wayfinding reconnects people with place. Clear signage, painted routes, and simple visual cues encourage exploration and make navigation intuitive, turning everyday journeys into moments of discovery and belonging.

The flagship is the Inner City Walking Map: after research showed no existing map served the inner city or its diverse audience, we commissioned an inspirational new one, designed with Studio Muti. Roughly 6 000 copies have been distributed through the inner city by our street team, alongside signage experiments piloted on Bree Street.
