CHURCH LANE
Church Lane was once a dimly lit, underused passage where pedestrians felt unsafe after dark. The poor lighting limited foot traffic and kept nearby businesses quiet in the evenings.
To address this, the Mission, in collaboration with Litehouse, installed a series of warm, low-energy festoon lights strung overhead, paired with a few targeted lamp upgrades. The goal was to create a welcoming, well-lit atmosphere that encourages people to linger rather than rush through.
The results have been immediate – evening footfall has noticeably increased, and local businesses report more activity after dark. The lighting not only improves visibility and safety but also brings a sense of vibrancy to the lane, making it a small but significant public space after sunset.
